People living on the street in Rio De Janeiro can now join free yoga classes in the city three times a week.
Yoga is one of the greatest ways to practice mindful thinking and helps inner calm and personal health. Anyone in need of some time away from the world can benefit from an hour on a yoga mat, yet many people do not get the chance.
In many areas of the world, yoga has become an exclusively high end activity, practiced in warm studios and with expensive yoga instructors, only the most privileged among us can benefit.
A group of volunteers in Brazil are changing that however, through offering these free yoga classes for homeless people living on the streets, they're giving some head space and time to work on the mind and body to people living in the harshest conditions.
Andre Pereira leads the volunteers who give their time to create this service in the city and also distributes breakfast to homeless, 3 days a week.
Many people living on the street now attend two classes a week with the team and their class numbers are growing each month.
While the problem of homelessness needs to be helped in many different ways through health, education, money and attitudes of society, small acts such a this are a powerful way that shows how we can all make a difference to make the live of other s better.
Simply by giving the space and time for a person to find some calm and spend some time on themselves, the most amazing things can happen.
