Snowboarders from around the globe are getting ready to ride for top honors and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Burton European Open (BEO) from January 9-16 in Laax, Switzerland. The BEO is the third Burton Global Open Series event this season and a 6 Star TTR Event that offers top prizes like two new Volvo XC 60s and over $125,000 in prize money.
Among the confirmed invited riders are TTR World Champion 07/08 Jamie Anderson (USA), Dutch slopestyle queen Cheryl Maas, former Olympic Champion Kelly Clark (USA), Canadian Marie-France Roy, Laax local Sina Candrian and the UK’s outstanding rider Jenny Jones, who came very close to winning the BGOS championship title last year. The men’s starting field is also impressive with Burton Global Open Series Champion 07/08 Peetu Piiroinen from Finland, Olympic champion and defending 08 BEO slopestyle winner Shaun White (USA), Mikkel Bang (NOR), who placed second at last year’s Air&Style in Munich, and Swiss style master Nicolas Müller.
For amateur riders who want a chance to compete against the top pros, online rider registration is open until November 20th, so you’d better get in quick!
The BEO’s 10th birthday will not only be celebrated with outstanding snowboarding, but also with legendary parties and live music acts. UK band The Streets will play a live concert on Friday, January 16th, at The Riders Palace and Berlin duo Stereo Total will play at the riders welcome party on Wednesday night, January 14th.
