Round 3 of the Vans US Open of Surfing just went down with genuine title contender Tyler Wright (above) and Coco Ho (below) posting the highest points scores of the day which sees them catapaulted into the quarters on Saturday alongside other heat winners Sally Fitzgibbons and Courtney Conlogue. The rest of the girls, including former winners Carissa Moore and Steph Gilmore, who are still in this year’s title mix, will face an extra heat in the Huntington Beach heat tomorrow for Round 4.

In other news from the Vans US Open of Surfing Lizzie Armanto won the Van Doren Invitational skate contest and the awesome Keala Kennelly won the Women of the Year award as was inducted into the Surfer Walk of Fame. Props to her for that.
