For stop three of the story, Neon Stash took to the open road for a trip around Scotland. Heading north in hope of snow, the crew caught up with, adventurette, Lorna Dalgleish in Glasgow and then headed on to Aviemore to meet with LASS founder Lauren MacCallum. There was snow, but not quite as they expected…

There is no better feeling than taking to the open road in search of adventure. And you don’t have to look far in Scotland, it’s an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. This was our destination for the 3rd filming outing for ‘Brits On Board’, with plans to hit to Braehead for some banter and head to the Cairngorms for a catch-up…
Ok, so maybe the weather can restrict the potential for activity north of the border, but it certainly didn’t stop us as we arrived in, a more than blustery, Edinburgh. There were rumours of snow further north, specifically in Aviemore, where we would be heading. But before all that we had to fit everything we needed into our transport ‘partner-in-adventure’ provided by our mates at Smart. Luckily it arrived with a pre-fitted snowboard rack, phew. So with limited faff we got 4 boards neatly packed in, bags squished in, 2 people seated and took to the road.
Our first stop was East Kilbride, near Glasgow, to meet with Lorna Dalgleish. Lorna is an inspiration of ours, she adventures around Scotland constantly and is manager at snowboard shop Librance. Cold water and a chill in the air don’t stop her, she surfs and snowboards and shreds throughout the year. We caught up with her to chat boards and then headed to Braehead for an indoor shred, with a side of front flips.
After a night in the dome, fresh air was called for! Snowboards back on the Smart, we hit the rainy road north from Glasgow to Aviemore. The home of many inspirational Scottish shredders, including Lesley McKenna. But we were there to catch up with Lauren MacCallum, founder of the LASS crew. Not heard of it? LASS is an amazing platform that Lauren started over a year ago which aims to get girls involved with shredding in Scotland. She runs events and activities that proactively get girls on boards, so obviously we are big fans!
Despite recent snowfall, on our arrival at Cairngorm Mountain the wind was going for it (as it likes to do), so although we had hoped for a genuine Scottish shred, we had to make do with a trip up the funicular and some fresh highland air. Great for the hair do!
Day two in the Highlands brought some action however, lifts still inactive, we set off to a locals’ backyard to make use of the newly laid white stuff. We’re not talking metres deep, but enough for some daytime building and play at least! That’s what it’s all about in Scotland, making the most of what you’ve got.. Lauren and Lorna would agree.
We had a great road trip thanks to all the friendly Scots and their hospitality. Also thanks to Smart and GNU snowboards for supporting by providing the gear we needed to adventure!
