Have you read our super exclusive Jenny Jones interview from the current issue yet? [If not click here and open a tab now so you can read it laters]. In it we asked Jenny Jones what she hoped the legacy of her amazing first ever Team GB snow medal would be and she said:
It’s made me super happy to see how many girls and boys have been pumped on snowboarding slopestyle and how it has encouraged them to go and try the sport which is awesome.
She added:
I have also been struck by how many parents have emailed me to say thank you for getting their children excited for sport and getting outdoors. Especially little girls, one dad wrote to say, ‘Thank you my daughter has put down her computer gadgets and strapped on a snowboard!’ with a photo attached of her in the kitchen with all the gear on. So rad. I never realised quite how important it was for young girls to see other girls and women being successful in sport and how much that inspires them but I have really taken note and just hope all these young girls enjoy their experience on the snow and want to go back again.
Jenny Jones didn’t just get emails though, she got several bags of old school fan mail too. The above pic being just the tip of the iceberg. Jenny was kind enough to share some of the cutest comments and pictures with us. You can see them below starting off with some words from a teacher who encouraged his class of 7 and 8 year olds to write to Jenny. You can read their letters after his.
My class has been following the Winter Olympics and they wanted to write to you to tell you how they feel. I haven’t read them or told them what to write so it’s from the heart.
You have inspired so many people Jenny I can’t thank you enough. The kids in my class now believe they should follow their dreams and they can achieve anything. Thanks!
