Did you know that Hobbit Town was a real place in New Zealand?
Apparently when Peter Jackson came across Alexander Farm on the North Island of New Zealand, he thought it would be ideal place to film Hobbiton for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, according to Twisted Sifter.
Now they’ve recreated the entire set for visitors to wonder around, complete with 44 unique hobbit holes plus the Green Dragon Pub, Mill, double arched bridge and the Party Tree.
It’s still a working farm, owned by the Alexander family with 13,000 sheep and 300 Angus beef cattle.
