I considered getting a job, after all what better way to keep myself busy, but then I remembered that I was already working. I’m not an airhead, it’s just that my job here in the Alps doesn’t really feel like a job so I tend to forget that I have one.
Let me explain: one day a week, I travel to Morzine to present Snowfix, a podcast about freesports, skiing and snowboarding in particular. That’s right. Some people clean chalets (which had been an option at some point), some girls work a bar (which I’m dead keen on, I’m a huge fan of the MBC here in Cham), and I get to sit in front of a camera and talk about things I’m actually interested in (such as Arnold Schwarzenegger breaking his leg on the slopes). And it’s not just talking, it’s meeting people I like, too. Jenny Jones, who kicks ass wherever she rides, Tim Warwood, whose movies have got to be the funniest in the business, and more recently, Goldie Looking Chain, who spent a good half hour talking about poo (what this has to do with snowboarding, I’m not entirely sure…)
Do I consider myself lucky? You bet I do. Which could explain why I’m bragging and name-dropping. I mean, come on, I work with two really cute guys (Tim and Charlie, they’re single, hehe) once a week for ten hours and that’s my season funded. How could I not be bragging…
On a totally different note, the Talents Aiguilles event is on this weekend in Chamonix. I only just found out, and it seriously rocks. I got the wrong impression last night, I was walking through town and saw a Talents Aiguilles tent with a DJ playing super loud cheesy music but no one was dancing, it seemed a bit… lame. Turns out Talents Aiguilles was created in order to give women the opportunity to discover the joys of the mountains, meaning that if you are a woman and you are in Cham, you can get a free pass for the Grands-Montets, Brevent/Flegere, you can also get free equipment rental, free tuition, etc… How wicked is that? I suspect this might take place in other resorts so you girls should totally keep an eye out for it. It comes in so handy as well, my sister’s visiting this weekend and she’ll get to ride at no costs at all!
