You Can Afford Your Own Private Island For The Weekend. Really, You Can!

This private lighthouse costs less to rent than a night in a B&B

How do you fancy renting out this island?

You could spend all day catching fish, exploring the rocks and going for a swim, before lighting a campfire and having drinks at the shore when the sun goes down.

You might be thinking that this sounds great – for someone with a lot of spare cash …

So what about if we said it was cheaper than a night in a bed and breakfast?

For the last ten years, this private lighthouse and the land surrounding it, has been rented out to holiday makers for the tiny price of £109 a night – and it sleeps up to ten people.

It only costs £109 per night – and sleeps up to ten people

The lighthouse, which has been guiding ships since 1857, became fully automated in the 1960s.

At that point, the lighthouse-keepers and their families moved to the bigger island  350 metres out from the coast of Carantec, leaving the lighthouse deserted.

So what’s the catch in renting this super cheap paradise? Well, you have to be ready for a bit of an adventure…

The deal of the rental is that you’re in charge of finding your own way to the island. Jet skis and boats available from local companies around the area.

When you make it to the island, you’ll be living traditional for a few days.

The building has no hot water and no phone line, with the toilets in traditional outhouses.

We think its a small price to pay for your own private island for the weekend.
