We’ve seen a lot of van conversions in our time, from bust up surf vans to gigantic tour bus homes for a dozen people, we know that almost anything can be made into an amazing rolling home. This Mercedes horse box from the eighties however, is by far the most amazing transformation we’ve come across yet.
This incredible horse box conversion is the handiwork of House-Box, a company that creates ‘bespoke handmade motor-caravan conversions and mobile, sustainable off-grid solutions,’which is the professional way of saying that they create stupidly cool houses out of weird stuff.
14 Super Cool Vans You’ll Want To Travel The World In
Far from the quirky dream house below, this vehicle (called Helga) started its life on a farm as a working 1989 horse box, until the owners saw the potential for an adventure van and got in touch with the guys at House-Box.
House-Box convert existing structures such as busses, boats and man-caves to create dreamy adventure homes, as well as building structures from scratch. The team have built bespoke tree-houses and created shipping container houses previously, and now have many other types of projects in the pipeline.
“When Helga first arrived she was still very much a horse-box, complete with hay and poo!” say House-Box. “We fully stripped the box, planed the timber back and blasted and repainted the frame.”
“You could book to stay in one of these magical homes for real”
“With the addition of lots of engineering and customisations, we built her back up from scratch and added heaps of off-grid wizardry behind the scenes so that her owners can truly be home, wherever in the world they choose to park up.”
