How many times have you been sat at an adventure film festival – only to find less than 5 per cent of the films are about women?
So many times, right? Luckily, snowboarder, surfer and climber Ruth Farrar has decided to do something about it.
It is the world’s first film festival dedicated to celebrating women in extreme sports
Shextreme Film Festival is going to be the first ever film festival exclusively celebrating women in extreme sports – and it’s showing right here in the UK.
It’s taking place on Friday 9 October 2015 at the Cube Microplex in Bristol. The films will be entirely focused on sporty adventurous women in the outdoors.
There is also going to be a passionate panel of speakers including director of Europe’s first female skate film Jenna Selby; founder of Board of Media movement Emma Shoesmith; women’s climbing coach Steve Winslow and award-winning adventure filmmaker Belinda Kirk.
Tickets are on sale now for £7 for adults and £5 for concessions. You can buy them here.
We think that the Shextreme Film Festival is such a great idea – if you live in the Bristol area, make sure you get down and show your support.
