This race, which takes place in California’s Death Valley in the 49 degree summer heat, calls itself the ‘world’s toughest foot race’…and we would be inclined to agree.

Spanning 100 miles, most of the world’s ultra-marathoners happily admit defeat in the face of this monstrous ultra, but the brave few do take it on and win.

Christopher McDougall’s book Born To Run first brought this race out of the ultra-marathoner community and into wider view, with the amount of people entering experiencing a sharp rise.

If you’re tempted to do this race…Good luck! You better not skip any of those training sessions, no one wants to realise they’re under prepared in the middle of the desert.
