Mountains have a very special feel to them, that doesn’t only attract mountaineers and mountain sports enthusiasts, but also alien species such as surfers and skateboarders. And they’re enjoying them just as much, as Nikita rider Melly Jovancic tells

It all began when one day a tall man (Christian Reiter) came to my side and spoke to me saying, “Why the hell didn’t you come to the Brixlegg-girls-Bowl-contest last year?”

I was relaxed, knew nothing and asked again a bit skeptical – “girls  bowl contest? In Austria?
That’s not true?”

He pointed out about it and I gave my promise (moist handshake), “I will be there next year …”

The road trip to Brixlegg was an incredible, brilliant time. As extreme gangsters we went there, the music was absolutely old dirty, simply indescribable with some funny scenarios in the middle of the highway, haha.

When we arrived, we just wanted to skate… We were totally fascinated and at the same time a little shaky, because of the mountains and the skatepark. It took some time until we came to love the bowl  … ‘cause we Austrian’s are a little bit spoiled when it comes to riding bowls …. ha-ha.

We drove up late in evening and then came Mr Gordon who said if we all wanted to sleep in the indoor Skatepark at Kuftstein, then it was cool…that was absolutely not good … we skated ‘til 4 o’clock in the morning. We were exhausted for the contest, absolutely.. haha.

Whatever .. the contest began, and each of our crew won a victory although for my part, I was just stoked my friends had a good time and put on a good show.

The judges were super motivated, they fired us all up (Anne, Stephi and me) and just told us it was the HAMMER. I will not forget any time soon my time in Tirol, we’ll see you next year for the bowl and this year for sure for a snowboard session!

Because of my winning part I decide to get a tattoo of a skateboard on my feet, to remember how wonderful skateboarding is, nothing brings such benefits as skateboarding!
