After winning her first Olympic gold medal at Sochi in 2014, American halfpipe snowboarder Kaitlyn Farrington was just at the start of a promising pro career.

If she fell badly again, there was a really high chance she would be paraplegic for the rest of her life.
So at the age of just 25, Kaitlyn had to announce her retirement from professional snowboarding. But all was not over for the girl from Idaho.
Her doctor told her that while she couldn’t compete in the halfpipe, she could snowboard – as long as she kept her feet firmly on the ground.
So Kaitlyn set herself the challenge of climbing (and riding down) 25 volcanoes in the Cascades Range in just six weeks.
