Since the snow is still falling, the Girl Sessions are still rolling as well, and here some highlights from the most recent one in the Almdudler Snowpark Sölden, presented by Nitro!
Sunday, March 17th 2013, saw a crew of motivated ladies rocking the NITRO Girls Shred Session, including many familiar faces such as Kathrin Gappmayr, Nadine Härtinger, Daniela Kaindl and Charlotte Freyburger. While the focus of previous sessions was to produce footage and photos, Nitro also provided for some rookie coaching through their team riders Stephanie Nagel and Tine Müller, who worked with the beginners.
Since this stop was reserved to snowboards, initiator of this new series and QParks PR fairy and passionate freeskier Moni Oberreiter swapped back to one plank, just to be able to be a part of this session: “The last time I went snowboarding was five years ago. Since then I’ve been freeskiing the whole time. If it wasn’t for the Nitro Girls Session, I think I would never have gone snowboarding again! But if you can spend a whole day with snowboard girls, you really have to take this chance. First, I was a bit skeptical about my riding skills and thought I wouldn’t be able to ride three meters on the board but all the girls pushed and motivated me and then – I have to admit – it was actually great fun and I really would like to do some more snowboarding again!
After the kicker action in the morning the girls got down to the boxes and rail-lines in the afternoon, working on their freestyle skills and exchanging valuable tips and tricks. Especially the freestyle newcomers among the girls were benefiting from the advice of the pros and made great progress in shortest time.
“I think it’s very important to communicate ‘girl power’. Many girls are afraid of entering a snowpark because they think they aren’t good enough or too old for the whole freestyle stuff. Look at me, I’m the best example. I’m 30 years old now and still completely into freestyle
Let’s hope there’ll be loads and loads more sessions to follow!
