A real success! Three words to describe the third edition of the Betty Jam snowboarding & skiing contest 2009. The contest took place in Saint- Lary Soulan on the 14th & 15th of February. 11 girls joined to compete on the so- snowed slopes of the Pyrennean ski resort! 11 girls for only 5 places on the podium. Thanks to a generous week of snow, a large lawyer of snow had covered the snowpark for every rider’s pleasure!
11 competitors but one winner only: Matrion Gouwy for the snowboarding section and Noellie Simon for the ski competition.
The competition allowed the youngest riders to emerge like Chloé Sillières, 10-years old only who arrived in third position. Her two-years younger friend Agathe was from the party and did not turn ridiculous either! Aged from 10 to 28, every rider was happy to take part to an only- girl event aimed at developping the position of women in the extreme sports.
Organised by the association called I’m a Girl, the competition had the objective to give the opportunity to women to freely claim their emergence in a male- dominated world.
The organisers, Cécile Lagarde, Julie Chartrou and Clémence Adoue, will welcome you on the 9th and 10th of may for the Betty jam street edition, a 100%- girls skateboarding event in Albi (France).
Ride like a girl! as they often say!
