Ladies night at Rampworx

On the 27th February Rampworx skatepark in Liverpool hosted a ladies night. I’d known about it for a while but had no idea what to expect. Claire at Nikita picked me up via manchester. I happily showed her around my student dive crib, gave her a brew, and then we set off in the nikita party van. Sipping rockstars and blasting some girls night out compilation cd was all good until almost sying on arrival. Do not drink rockstar… it’s like crack i swear.

So we get to liverpool and then drive around the city centre for about an hour trying to find the hotel where the Rogue girls were waiting. Claire even manages to get pulled over by the police for doing a u turn so blatantly in front of a police officer. Smiles and puppy eyes worked well enough for us to get way without a fine.

About two hours later, a crew of us arrive fashionably late. The Skatepark is rammed full of people which is a good sign. I’d never actually seen so many young girls getting involved. There were a crew of bladers, skaters, dancers and even female fronted bands. All very girl power – esque! Even Sue Hazel? ( not sure is that her name?) who plays for, the womens international football team.

Interviews were taking place with the BBC and different teams did demos for the participants throughout the evening. It was all pretty hectic but fun in the end when everyone was just chilling rather than doing militant demos.

The night was a huge success in showing younger girls that there are other girls out there taking part in male dominated sports , and hopefully inspiring girls to take up such sports. It’s always good getting together with a bunch of girls from all over the country and just chilling.

For some reason more rockstar was drunk on the way back to the hotel and more dancing in the party bus. Carmella from Les Ettes had now joined in… And once again another rockstar low once back at the hotel. Its the hedonist in me i think. Thanks to Rampworx for putting all the Rogue team up in a hotel. After getting our glam rags on we all headed to a club called bumper for an after party. The Rogue skateboards promo video was premiered here. Watch it here. It went down well, us all being slightly tipsy meant that we all started hugging each other. Smiles all round.

The night ended with the hardcore few remaining… and lois getting rowdy in a kebab shop.. and a damn good cheesy rank pizza.
