A tropical Fijian Island home to 24 Women for 8 days, and all with one thing in common – a love for kiteboarding!!!

Mainland Fiji was our rendezvous point before we all headed out on the journey to Ono Island, which consisted of a 40 minute plane trip and a 65 minute boat ride to get to our final destination, Kenai Resort.

Our homes for the week were beautiful little Bures (grass huts) built right on the beach with the sea at our front door and lush green hills at our back door. Most of Kenia Resort was built especially for us to stay there, and we were made to feel very welcome by the local villagers with their speciality food and drinks, and the neighbouring children entertained us with singing and dancing at their school.

What more could you ask for…?

Wind!

Only 1 day out of the whole trip was not windy enough for us to go kiteboarding and so we filled the day with snorkelling on the reef, checking out the surroundings rock jumping and taking a trip to the waterfall on Kadavu Island. Followed by an evening of sitting round the beach bonfire drinking rum punch!

Freeriding, downwinders, expressions sessions, races and clinics for the social girls taken by the pro riders were how will filled our days as the wind was great. The social girls all had things that they wanted to learn and improve on and it was great to be out there helping them to try new things!!

The week was fun, exciting and challenging all rolled into one as many of the girls tried things for the very first time!

I don’t think there was one girl that didn’t have an amazing time and we were all quite sad to say our goodbyes back at the airport in Nadi. It was really great how everyone bonded so well and so quickly and I know that I have made some great new friends from this trip.

And all that was left for me was the next challenge to get myself across Fiji to a tiny airport to get myself back home.
