Wow so Donna “Burton” Carpenter (enjoying some pow above) is confirmed to speak at the fifth Women in Boardsports conference in Saas Fee next month as a keynote speaker. We were there when she spoke at the first ever WIB conference in 2009, which you can read about here, and it was super inspiring. Aside from talking about being a woman in the traditionally quite macho action sports sphere, she also had some funny stories of being a mum in that arena, and how breastfeeding in between important meetings doesn’t always go to plan! For that and many other reasons she got an honourable mention in our 7 of the coolest mums who ride feature.
Other confirmed speakers include the boardsports industry veteran, Iker Aguirre, also the first dude to speak at the conference, which can only be a good thing and Valeria Kechichian, Longboard Girls Crew co-founder. Properly interested in what she has to say.
If you haven’t been before it’s a super cool event. Great for networking if you work in boardsports or want to but also really good on things like work/life balance and making the most of your talent. And it’s in car-free Saas Fee, which is properly beautiful, especially in autumn. This year’s dates are 12-15th September and to sign up or get more info go to womeninboardsports.com
