The fourth of seven stops on the ASP Women’s World Tour is on in Dee Why, Sydney, right now and has set a new pace to this year’s race for the title, with Courtney Conlogue eliminating reigning ASP Women’s World Champion and reigning Beachley Classic champ Carissa Moore in round 4.
Competition has been tight straight from the beginning, especially with Steph Gilmore bagging some stellar results and Sally Fitzgibbons surfing on top of her form. And now this last turn of events spiced things up even further, although we hope not too much for the reigning queen from Hawaii, who seemed quite discouraged after her loss: “I think that means I’m out of the race. Steph has had a great year and I haven’t. Sally is still in a good place too, so we will see what happens.”
ASP Tour rookie Malia Manuel on the other hand had a great time and impressed everyone with her powerful and stylish surfing, just like our current cover girl Laura Enever.
