The Vans Warped Tour kicked off on June 29th in Pomona, California, with Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) once again on board in the Take Action! Village. Now in it’s seventh year on the epic tour, B4BC will hit all 45 stops with its travelling educational booth teaching young people how to conduct self breast exams and the importance of early detection and leading an active lifestyle.
The Take Action! Village encourages awareness of social issues and activism in causes that create a positive change in our community. In an effort to raise awareness and membership, B4BC has teamed up with long-time friends and collaborators Keep-A-Breast and Girlz Garage, as well as with new friends Skate 4 Cancer, by hosting a raffle.
Festival attendees can sign up for the foundation newsletters and automatically receive entry to win cool prizes like a bike, guitar, surfboard, snowboard, and many other great items. Winners will be chosen at the end of the tour and there will be as many winners as there are prizes.
Additionally, B4BC is collaborating with the Unite The United organization on an art skatedeck auction. Various bands on the tour will receive Element skatedecks on which to create custom artwork. The skatedecks will be auctioned off through the Unite The United ‘Rock n’ Roll Charity Auction’ via an eBay online auction, which will begin in a few weeks.
The Unite The United Foundation is a charitable organization founded by the producers of the Vans Warped Tour and the Rockstar Taste Of Chaos Tour with a mission to encourage fans, artists and industry leaders from the music, touring and lifestyle worlds to come together through charitable contributions, events and volunteer efforts in order to work toward a positive change in our national community.
For more information about the raffle or art skatedeck auction, visit www.myspace.com/b4bcvanswarpedtour. The specially created myspace site will be updated regularly and will also feature survivor stories, photos, and news from each stop.
B4BC first got involved with the Warped Tour because the Tour’s creator, Kevin Lyman, was a B4BC advisory member. Kevin lost his mother to breast cancer and over the years has donated time and energy by helping the foundation’s signature fundraising event – the Snowboard and Music Festival.
Concluding in B4BC’s hometown, Los Angeles, on Aug. 25th, the tour hits the following stops throughout the US along the way – check out the website for the full schedule.
