Top Brit rider Samantha Rogers will be up against 11 of the UK’s finest male snowboarders next Friday, 24th October, for the Snowboard Invitational Championship title at the 35th Metro Ski and Snowboard Show in London Olympia. Her skiing counterpart, Katie Summerhayes, will be fighting for the Freeskier Title on Thursday 23rd October, and similarly, will be hoping to leave her 11 male competitors eating her powder.
The 35th Metro Ski and Snow Show boasts a massive 40ft kicker, where all invited contestants will be competing in a Big Air competition for the Snowboard and Freeski Invitational Championship Titles, as well as a ticket to next years Brits 2009 in Switzerland. Both Samantha Rogers and Katie Summerhayes have been dominating the British Snow Tour this year, and have a chance to increase their rankings by gaining valuable points from this 2-Star event.
The freeski event takes place on Thursday 23rd October from 7pm, where all 12 invited contestants will go head-to-head for the title. The snowboard event follows on Friday 24th October from 7pm – be there to cheer on the only two female competitors!
If you want more than snowboarding and freeskiing action, then the Metro Ski and Snow Show promises a solid line-up of activities, stalls and entertainment. The show itself displays the season’s finest wares, from apparel to gear to travel. Check out features like the Trespass Ice Kingdom or Northern Lights Experience, or hang out on the deck and catch some live music. If you head over on the Friday night and are keen to continue with the party action, head across to the Firestation in Hammersmith, where DC Snowboards & SCUK Mash Up will be celebrating SCUK’s 4th birthday and premiering the new Mack Dawg “Double Decade” movie.
