Circle One Adds Women’s Division to the Portrush Open

The ‘Circle One Portrush Open’ which is on from 27th-28th October 2007 is proud to announce that they are adding a Pro Woman’s division to the line-up, giving us the opportunity to see pros such as Easkey Britton and Nicole Morgan show-off their surf styles!

A wide variety of other talented surfer girls will be taking part in the event, which will be 7th out of 8 UK Pro Tour competitions taking place this year. Irish Pro Surfer Easkey Britton says, “I am stoked the tour is coming to Ireland this year, this will give me great opportunity to be surfing my home breaks in a competition environment and hopefully do well. The waves are of a different level here which I hope will only but further aid the tours destinations with including it again for next year.”

Dave Reed, Director of the UKPST states,” Expanding the tour further a field from Thurso, Scotland and overseas to one of the most scenic countries alone and more challenging waves opens such an array of opportunities for our field of international athletes on tour. With a huge amount of support from Northern Ireland Events Company (NIEC), Coleraine Borough Council and main event sponsors, Circle One and OceanWarriors, this leg of the tour is expected to be a big success”, adding “this is a fantastic opportunity for Irish competitors on the tour to have home advantage”.

With a £4,000 prize purse, the event is set to bring competitors such as Matt Capel, Circle One sponsored rider, ”I’m Looking forward to this event in Northern Ireland, it is great to see Circle One supporting the Surf tour. I’m doing well on the tour and this is a big event with good points and prize money- I’m looking forward to it.”

Jeff Townsley, founder and Company Director of Circle One further comments, “Sponsoring such an important competition for professional surfers reflects how positive we feel about Circle One’s current offer and the British and Irish Surf market in general-we’re proud to be hosting what should be a fantastic event.”

He adds. “It’s great to see the local authorities being so supportive with regards the Portrush event. Circle One has long been a supporter of grassroots surfing, particularly local competitions”

Kicking off on the 27th October, the Circle One Portrush Open will host music and after parties for competitors plus party refreshment for media and staff.
So head on down and support your fellow female surfers!
