The lovely Diggy Smerdon, whom we featured for an exclusive web interview recently, has a new exhibition coming up at the ‘Eating Waves‘ surf art group show in the Driftwood Gallery in Newquay, Cornwall.
Make sure you catch the opening night on Friday 30th July, or go there any other day until Sunday, 8th August.
Here’s some more info on the whole show:
The Driftwood gallery proudly opens it’s famed doors once again, this time to give the public a taste of the briney from such surf legends as George Greenough, Albe Falzon and artists including, Wolfgang Bloch, Harry Daily, Patrick Trefz, Tony Curtis, and Diggy.
Diggy is a young artist, illustrator and designer that has combined these talents to form a name that carries it’s own distinctive style. Her work appears across canvas, wood, album covers, T-shirts and more recently surfboards, but when you see a Diggy, you know it’s a Diggy.
After spreading her weird and wonderful creatures on to London’s clothing and fashion industry, Diggy joined Avalaan in producing illustrations for their spring/summer range.
A solo show of Diggy’s latest pieces gained much recognition and spurred interviews in Cooler , Huck and Crack magazines.
Along with several pieces of static art from the Creatures of the Shallows collection, there will also be a retro-style twin fin fish; a product of the collaboration between Diggy and Luke Young, Carve magazine’s best young shaper 2009.
