etnies Girls win X Games 12 Medals

Congratulations to Elissa Steamer for her third consecutive X Games gold medal and to Lauren Perkins for taking silver in the Skateboard Street Women’s Finals at X Games 12 this past weekend.

Steamer’s historic win made her the only woman to claim gold in street since the inception of the women’s contest in 2004. This year was particularly relevant, as Steamer pocketed $15,000 and Perkins $10,000, the highest amounts paid to date in the women’s contest.

“I didn’t think I would pull it off,” said Steamer of the win. “I kinda blew it on my first run, but I was able to work my way up in the jam session, where I just got real loose. The stairs got me the gold.”

Also competing on behalf of etnies Girl was last year’s silver medalist, Evelien Bouilliart, who was battling an ankle injury sustained the day before in practice, and who had to be helped off the course by medics after hurting her other leg during the competition. etnies Girl wishes her a speedy recovery.

Next up, Steamer, Perkins and Bouilliart, if she is well, are tentatively scheduled to compete Aug. 25-27th at Slam City Jam in Vancouver, British Columbia. Good luck, ladies!
