Following on from last year’s success, Ladies Skateboard Series organisers Lois Pendlebury and Lauren Kate MacCullen are pleased to announce dates for this years events. There are three separate comps which make up the complete series – that way it gives a chance for riders in all parts of the country the opportunity to attend at least one of the events and have a mingle with the other riders.
The first contest will take place on the 24th September between 7.00-10.00pm at Central Skate Park in Manchester – if you would like to go but need more info or want to find out about lift sharing, check out the facebook page HERE. The second event will take place at the UK Skate Champs in Hemel Hempstead XC on 22nd and 23rd October with the final event taking place at Transition Extreme Aberdeen – although this date is yet to be announced.
Overall positions will be determined by best two placings out of the three – last years Ladies Skateboard Series saw Georgina Matthews take the overall title, but unfortunately as she is a New Zealand national she could not be awarded the official UK series title. That actually went to Rogue rider Helena Long with Lovenskate veteran – Lucy Adams placing a close second.
With events such as the Ladies Skateboard Series, Girlzilla at NASS and Pioneer’s Girl Skate Jam UK – all now firm fixtures on the annual skateboard calendar – the level of female riding in the UK is progressing faster than ever. It really can’t be stressed enough how important the support and exposure these comps give, aid with that.
