Nissan Outdoor Games Official Team Selection

The Nissan Outdoor Games are getting ready for the second consecutive year in Chamonix from February 14-21, 2009.

The event takes place over one week , when the five invited teams will compete to film and edit their creations in just seven days. The team selection for 2009 is now official…

Ride the Planet Team
Last year’s winning team, the Ride the Planet boys, consist of team leader Claude Adam, who will be accompanied by a string of athletes, including acrobatic paragliding champ Antoine Montant (France), backcountry skier Thomas Diet, Spanish paragliders Felix and Raoul Rodriguez, wingsuit flyer Julian Boulle (South Africa) and snowboarder Geraldine Fasnacht (Switzerland). This year, Ride the Planet is adding an innovative twist to their candidacy by opening up the role of director to the public (see details below).

Team Focus
Professional freerider Aurelien Ducroz has chosen to comprise his own team. So, Argentinean paragliding champ Herman Pitocco, American skier Rachel Burks, freerider Karina Hollekim, French speed rider Francois Bon and base jumper Seb Collomb-Gros (France) are coming back to Mont Blanc for a week of insanity. On the technical front, the Focus production company will get it all on tape.

Dream Team
Star freerider and base jumper Shane McConkey, his friend and ski/base specialist, JT Holmes and snowboarding team leader Austrian Eric Themel will be joined by an all-star cast including English big mountain snowboarder James Stentiford, Austrian director Jens Reidesser and Norwegian photographer Johan Whikhagen.

Team Argon
Hang gliding specialist Flo Orley, Austrian base jumpers Hubert Shober and Andy Raciz, German snowboarder Aline Bock, Swiss freerider Roman Reiner, German paraglider Torsten Siegel and German ice climber Daniel Gebel will be coupling up with editor Daniel Wolf and English photographer Stuart Knowles to create their entry.

Team Golgoht
Finnish team leader and big mountain snowboarder Jarkki Henttonen pairs up with 42-year-old Norwegian freerider Fred Syverson who holds the record for the highest (unintentional) cliff jump on skis. Last year, Golgoht recruited someone at the last minute: a Japanese tourist at the Aiguille du Midi! What will they do this year to surprise us..?

Fancy getting involved? Well, it’s not too late as Ride the Planet along with their partner Julbo have launched a ‘scenario contest’. The idea: write a scenario and – if it wins – it will be produced by last year’s winning team, Ride the Planet, during the new Nissan Outdoor Games 2009 in Chamonix. And you will get to be the honorary director of their entry!

Dig deep in your imagination and write an innovative, original, creative, awesome, simply the best scenario… only one spot available! Find out more at ridetheplanets.com
