Nissan Outdoor Games Reveals Jury Members

The Nissan Outdoor Games by Columbia is set to hit Chamonix from 14-17 February for a weekend of shredding, filming and photography. As the launch day looms closer, the jury members have been announced. Here’s a little background on those who will be handing out the Golden Peak trophy to the winners…

Sports journalist and TV presenter Denis Brogniart is president of the jury. He started off his career at Europe 1, and went on to present Formula One and Fear Factor on national TV.

Climber Christophe Profit completed the first solo climb of the west face of the Drus (in the Mont-Blanc range) in 3 hours and 10 minutes back in 1982. In 1987, he scaled three of the highest faces in the Alps in 42 hours, then in 1992 he made the first ascent of the north-west face of K2 in the Himalayas – a vertigo-inducing 8611m.

American Dave Barlia is well known for his BASE-jumping performances, a sport which he has been doing for twenty years. A chap with many strings to his bow, Dave can also handle himself in the air, on snow or in a kayak.

Director of the Tourism Office, Bernard Prudhomme will be representing the town of Chamonix. A mountain guide and local, he is a connoisseur of the terrain.

An aficionado of action photos, Swede Patrik Lindqvist is a photographer specializing in sport and nature shots. He knows the Outdoor Games intimately, having previously participated as a competitor.

The seventh member of the jury is still unknown as he will be chosen in a competition draw on the Outdoor Games website. The lucky winner will receive a place on the jury of the Outdoor Games, as well as a weekend for two in Chamonix. The result of the competition will be announced on the 5th of February.

The Nissan Outdoor Games hosts seven teams of skiers, snowboarders, climbers, paragliders and BASE-jumpers, who will join up with professional cameramen, photographers, editors, and producers. They will all have five days to produce a short five-minute film in a bid to win the 5000 Euro prize and much-coveted trophy. This panel will have the tough job of selecting the best production and best photograph during the ceremony on Saturday night in the centre of Chamonix. Rather them than us…
