Ozzie surf wonder and three-time ASP Women’s World Champion Steph Gilmore struck again and claimed the title at the second event of this year’s world tour, the Rip Curl Women’s Pro in Bells Beach.
“I’m a bit overwhelmed by this,” she said about her third win at this event. “To ring the bell once is an amazing feeling, but three times? I don’t think the gravity of it has sunk in yet. It’s an incredible event and I feel very fortunate to have achieved such success here so far.” Defeating former ASP Women’s World Champion (2004) Sofia Mulanovich (PER), who suffered from a neck injury in a previous round, she is now leading the ASP ranking by miles again.
