The Roxy Jam is all about celebrating women’s surfing in all its forms, exploring the roots of surf and boardriding influences in a unique festival that brings together surfing, art and music.

The Women’s World Longboard Championship is the cornerstone of the Biarritz Roxy Jam. Held at the famous Côte des Basques, the world’s 48 top female longboarders will compete for the title in the third Women’s World Longboard Championship. Supported by the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP), this top event has a whopping $30,000 in prize money up for grabs so expect to see some fierce competition. This year, the Roxy Jam will also host one of the ten European legs of the ASP Women’s Pro Junior 2008 circuit.
Following on from Neneh Cherry, Cibelle, CSS, Pravda and DJ Chloé, the Roxy Jam has again put together a music program focusing on the female music scene. The Roxy Jam Art Exhibition exhibits the work of female artists who seamlessly blend art and surf. The set-up of the exhibition has been placed in the safe and experienced hands of contemporary art gallery Spacejunk, dedicated to ‘Board Culture’ artists. At the Roxy Jam a whole series of new artwork will be presented and the annual ‘Girls by Girls’ exhibition will be an unmissable spot to discover the artistic creations of young women from around the world. Forty works of art, from digital painting to photography, video and sculpture, will be unveiled for the occasion. Pop into the Roxy Jam Art Tent and pick yourself up a bargain!
