Roxy Team Storm to Victory at the English Nationals

The UK Roxy team had an amazing weekend at the English Nationals at Watergate Bay. With clean 3ft and sunny conditions, the long bank holiday weekend meant spectators were treated to a great display of the best of English surfing.

Candice O’Donnell was crowned Women’s Longboard Division English Champion 2008, powering through each division to be crowned the clear winner, taking her second win of the season. Candice said: “With two wins under my belt, I am determined to make this my year, I’ve been training hard in Oz and back home during the winter, so it looks like all my training is paying off! I’m really fired up and focused, ready to take on the next BLU and then the British Longboard title later this month.”

Holly Donnelly won the Women’s Open Division, beating fellow Roxy rider Sophie Hellyer into a closely fought second place. 15-year-old Holly is now looking forward to competing on the European Pro Junior series this summer, after spending the winter months training with renowned British coach Joel Gray in Portugal. “It’s great to add another win under my belt at the start of the season, I’m really pleased,” said Holly.

Fellow Roxy rider Sophie Hellyer said: “The UK Roxy team are on great form, with all of us looking forward to more comps and some great surfing this season!”
