Westbeach Snowflex Series takes Bearsden in super sick style….

The first question you have to ask after seeing the standard of riding thrown down at Bearsden this last weekend is, what they hell do they feed these kids? The competition was one of the best in the whole history of the series even if I did get a board edge to the ankle, ouch.

The atmosphere was buzzing, loads of spectators to cheer, ale to help them cheer, a DJ with real vinyl records, amazing weather, egg butties and cups of tea… rock and roll. Maybe this is what spurred on all the competitors to shred in what can only be called some of the best riding seen in the UK this year (either that or the influx of wasps?) The girls riding saw steezy nose grabs, huge 3s and sleek 5s leaving Sophie Addison to take 3rd place, Liz Osbourne to take 2nd (how does she go so big?) and Lynsey Ashdown to bag 1 st place. Charli Witts took home a subscription to Whitelines for her first time skills on snowflex…

The girls skiers are hard as nails… Rowan Cheshire managed to bag herself 2nd place with a super clean 7 despite painful back and rib injuries, oh yeah and whacking her face on the floor… gnarly. Katie Summerhayes was stomping tricks all day with big huge 5s securing 1st place with Corey McVicar coming a smooth 3rd.

The weather stayed on side all day, the slope stayed wet, the wasps kept chasing, the quarter pipe jam session went off, prizes were thrown out, faces were scuffed on snowflex, the team event went off and eventually small children were trampled… All in all a kick ass day…

Don’t forget Noeux Les Mines, France is on October 10th and you can pre register right now at westbeach.com/snowflexseries, there’ll be more prizes, more S%$T hot riding and oh yeah… a Chinese downhill so get it booked.
