High Altitude Yoga

Ok, I didn’t really do that much yoga but at least I did what I believe must be the highest three point head balance ever done on the summit of Spantik! I just spent six weeks in the Pakistani Himalayas, and four of those weeks were spent on Spantik, the object of the whole trip. The peak is 7028m and it felt like it took forever to reach it. After establishing base camp, we needed to ferry loads up to the other camps and pitch tents there as well. This was an excellent way of acclimatising, but not very easy. The snow conditions were never really on our side, either it was too hot and the snow too soft and rotten (which sent us diving into crevasses and trying out various swimming techniques in the snow), or it just snowed so much we were treading powder. It took a great effort and a lot of time, but we made it to the summit on the last week and as you can see from the pictures the summit was big and nice, allowing us to play badminton too! We got away without any mishaps or injuries, the only souvenirs are my frostbitten toes (which will be alright eventually I think) and some sore muscles:-)
