Jamie Anderson Interview

Age: 17

From: South Lake Tahoe, California!

How did you get into snowboarding?

It was definitely the influence of my older sisters.

When did everything turn serious?

Umm, I dunno really… I’m still in high school, I’m trying to graduate early, then I’m going to snowboard for a while before college.

Can you give us a run down of your average day?

Lets see… wherever I am I usually wake up, shower, grab food and run up to the mountain… ha ha. Or I’ll go to the beach if it’s summer, chill do my thing, cruise around, go bike ride to the lake. I love swimming in Tahoe, it’s a daily thing in the summer for sure!

And if you could have the perfect day, what would it include?

Riding powder at Sierra on a sunny day, swimming in Lake Tahoe (on a warm summer day), eating some sushi with a few friends and my family… then having a huge party with all my friends!

How did it feel to be the youngest rider to secure a medal at the X Games?

It just felt good to get a medal…

What’s your favourite riding spot and why?

Sierra at Tahoe for sure! It’s so fun, I’ve been riding there since I was 9 and I love it!

What are your top tunes for shredding?

I love Turbulance, Bob Marley, 2Pac and Timbaland.

You must travel a lot: what are your suitcase essentials?

My life! Ha ha! Seriously, even when I’m at home everything I need is in my suitcase.

What have been your worst setbacks?

The day before I went to Europe for a snowboard contest I broke my toe, it sucked… I still rode and did pretty good though.

What have your greatest achievements been?

Getting a full video part was pretty awesome, it was like the whole winter put together… I was stoked.

How did you get involved in the La La Land project?

Leanne Pelosi emailed me and said she wanted me to film with them, it took me a while to actually get on some trips because I was so busy with all the contests I did, but I pulled it together at the end.

What affect does your career have on your personal life?

A lot… it’s crazy it’s part of my daily life now, I mean I started out doing it for fun cause I could take the bus right down the street. I still have a ton of fun, its just crazy though!

How do you relax when you get the chance?

I like to relax at home in Tahoe, just kicking it at my parents house or chilling in my yard… or anywhere tropical is pretty relaxing!

What are you most looking forward to this season?

Just riding some powder! And I’m excited for all the trips I’m going on – fun times ahead!
