Up-and-coming surfer Leilani Gryde has been snapped up by Infamous as the first surfer to join their team of athletes.
Kona-born Leilani recently ranked 6th in Surferʼs ‘New Hot 100’. A dedicated and talented surfer known for her aggressive riding and experience in sizable waves, Leilani battled back from injury to end off the 2007 season with a 4th place finish at The Reef Pro at Haleiwa in November. She now goes into the 2008 season determined to make the WCT after a strong performance at the Roxy Pro Womenʼs Surfing Festival.
“For the past year I have been looking for the right female surfer to start off the Surf Program at Infamous,” said team manager Roberta Rodger. “Leilani had always been on my list after seeing her compete and checking out her coverage. Once I met her I knew the was perfect for our crew. Leilani embodies everything we look for in an athlete: talent, personality, determination and above all integrity, loyalty and a good attitude… Iʼm so stoked to work with her to help her reach her goals!”
With the support of Infamous and her sponsors Oakley, Etnies, and Lost Surfboards, it seems Leilani will be one to watch this surf season.
