Well hello! My name is Jo and I’ve just started work experience here at Cooler. I’m going to be working as a fashion and editorial assistant for 2 months; helping Poppy and Amanda out on anything they need doing. I will also be around to help out in the office with any jobs that need finishing off or any errands that need to be done. So basically, I am an all-round helping hand, but my priorities lie with Cooler (to which I am very happy!)

So what have I been doing? Well, my first day consisted of helping out on the second half of the “What’s your style?” shoot and the “Pull Shapes” fashion story shoot in London. Sorting out clothes and steaming them, making notes and generally staring in envy at how beautiful Vivienne was! (she was the model) I got a preview of the hottest and newest in snow fashion chic and I promise you, you will all be itching to get your mitts on everything you see in January’s Cooler! I was privileged to see ‘behind the scenes’ of what goes on at a fashion shoot. From the beginning of the day unpacking boxes, right through to the end of the day (at which point it was pretty late!) and loading up the taxi to go home. What can I say about it? It was brilliant. Something that is truly valuable when gaining experience in the world of fashion publishing.

Moving onto my second day…this is where I was introduced to what will be my main base for the next 2 months: the office. Poppy showed me where everything was and introduced me to everyone (yes, they’re all lovely!) and it wasn’t long before I’d settled in and made myself at home at my desk, then surrounding myself with boxes and bags of clothes that needed to be returned from the previous days shoot. This was and has been my main job for the last few days, and as I write there are still bags next to my desk that need to be sent back!!

Other things I’ve been doing is chasing prices for the samples we used, emailing people, data entry, answering the phone, opening post, researching for features like ‘Lust List’ and ‘What’s your style?’, sending out Cooler to various people and many other things! I have also just had a chat with Amy (the online editor) about this amazing new website, looking at some things I can research and write reviews for…I cannot wait!!
