So Super Ted (Fixed Gear London) finished building my new bike last Tuesday, just in time to feature in our bum-bag shoot for the next issue. I don’t think words can convey how much I love it. Put it this way: the first night I brought it home I woke up at 5am and just sat there staring at it. Sad I know. It rides like a dream, like a dream I tell you. I know, I know, it’s pretty jazzy – the anodized purple wasn’t actually in the original idea, it just kind of happened organically and really sets off the mint sparkle paint job.
Quick bit of geek stuff for you here – the hubs are Phil Wood (high FLANGE, tee hee) and the crankset is Sugino 75 – I’m a lucky girl. Now get this, the stem and the straps exactly match the frame and that was sheer coincidence. Odge (Fixed Gear London) made a one-off pair of mint straps without knowing my bike was mint and had promised them to someone else, but I managed to persuade him I couldn’t live without them (thanks Odge). The purple headset, seat post and rims were all anodized by 14 Bike Co, so there are only 4 of them like that in the world!
If you want Ted to build a frame for you, email him at [email protected], or better still go see him at 14 Bike Co, 13 Ely’s Yard, The Old Truman Brewery, London E1
