Hey Guys,
My name is Kate Foster, I’m 21, a pro-snowboarder… I ride on the British National Halfpipe Snowboard Team and went to the Olympics.
Brother James is big into the sport too, 5 times British Snowboarding Champion and on the British National World Cup Boardercross team. Sister Bethany loves to ride and is a freestyle judge. Even my old man snowboards!
It all started when I was 12 years old and living in Canada, we were a skiing family who ‘converted’ and never looked back.
I started competing and won the Ontario Championships and then went on for summer training with James and the team and earned a spot on the 2004/5 Development team.
Since then I took Silver in the 2005 European Championships and represented Great Britain in 2006 Turin Winter Olympics where I finished in 20th Place!
Leading up to the Olympics I moved up to the World Cup Team and competed in the FIS World Cup series. The World Cup circuit took me from Chile to Japan, to the US, Canada and all over Europe …… best finish was 7th in Switzerland. I am currently ranked 25th in the world and working on being a podium contender in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
My current sponsors are ANIMAL, K2 Snowboards, VonZipper goggles, and ZOOM Airlines …… and always looking for more as every little bit helps to keep me on the snow and pay those bills!
What else do I do…… I have played football for the last 15 years. I have recently moved to Gloucestershire and am currently playing in the Women’s League for Newent!
With my training commitments I can only work part-time so have had a random selection of jobs ……. ranging from security guard, gardener to sue chef!
Currently a fitness technician at the Gloucester Curves.
