So things have been a little slow kicking off this season. I arrived on the 3rd December and pretty much got straight into working as a chalet assistant. It’s a pretty sweet job, hardly brain taxing and it allows time during the day on the slopes. Plus the girls I am working with are brilliant, I don’t think I have laughed as much in my whole life as I have in the last two weeks! So hats off to you Leah and Bee, you make my day!
So far Morzine has had one day of snow fall, which was a week ago and that’s it! It’s kind of odd being in a ski resort and it being very green. Up the mountain though at Avoriaz they’ve had a few light dustings and the crew up there have been busy with the snow cannons making sure there is something to board on. I’ve managed a couple of mornings up on the slope and I admit it was a little hard to get back into it. So I thought it best to book myself a lesson. Mint Snowboard school (who are new to Morzine this season) dropped their cards round and kindly offered us chalet girls a free lesson. Adam was my instructor, he was amazing! I had certainly picked up a few bad habits but he talked and showed me through ways of improving my riding and by the end of the two hours I was the carving queen! Although I didn’t feel so good on my last run back when I hit a patch of ice and slammed on my chest.
A crew from Vans are out at the moment shooting some bits and pieces with Document Snow, they are staying at the new Ride and Slide chalet owned by the lovely Lisa and John. The place is amazing, it’s superbly decorated and very homely and if the reports on the meals are anything to go by the guys are very happy guests! So if you are on the look out for a top quality chalet holiday I suggest giving them a call.
All in all having a wicked time meeting new people and generally having a giggle! Just praying for a bit more snow to make it a white Christmas!
So long for now……Victoria x
