The all girls event Nine Queens has been around the mountains for quite some seasons now but for the first time ever, they’re adding snowboarding to their previously freeski-reserved action!
Since the winter north of the Alps resembled spring more than anything we experienced over here last year, they had to move the location of their famous castle from Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis to the dumping grounds of Livigno for the first time. With still more than 2 meters of snow in the resort, there is enough material at hands to build the biggest jump you’ve ever seen girls hit – let alone hit yourself (which we might be giving a try thanks to an invitation from GoPro, just don’t expect much other footage than heavy slams and heavier bails…).
Action kicks off on March 26th with a major film & photo jam session, culmination in a relaxed and yet mind blowing contest on the 29th.
Expected to rock the single planks are no lesser than Spencer O’Brien, Enni Rukajärvi, Jamie Anderson, Jenny Jones, and Kjersti Buaas, next to Grete Eliasson, Kaya Turski, Eva Patscheider, Virginie Faivre, Katie Summerhayes and Lisa Zimmermann on the double planks they call skis.
Intrigued? Get yourself down to the fairgrounds of Mottolino Fun Mountain to follow the action live on the grounds, all info can be found on ninequeens.com
