Safety should be at the top of all skiers and snowboarder’s agenda, so once again the Ski Club is teaming up with Henrys Avalanche Talk (HAT) and premier snowsports retailer Snow+Rock to run the ‘UK Off Piste and Avalanche Awareness Tour 2009’ sponsored by Arc’tyrex.
The Tour will be in held in six Snow+Rock stores across Britain, and the HAT team will be delivering a top class audio visual talk looking at how to have fun off piste whilst staying safe.
There will also be three practical avalanche transceiver training sessions that focus on search and rescue for off piste groups. These will take place on UK beaches during November, including Sandbanks in Dorset, Hayling Island, Hampshire and Formby, Merseyside.
The dates of the UK Off-piste and Avalanche Awareness Tour are as follows:
Tues 3rd November – Covent Garden Snow+Rock, 7pm
Weds 4th November – Gateshead Snow+Rock, 7pm
Thurs 5th November – Chill Factore Snow+Rock, 7pm
Saturday 7th November – Sandbanks Beach, Poole, Dorset, 11am-1.30pm
Tues 10th November – Chertsey/M25 Snow+Rock, 7pm
Weds 11th November – Kensington Snow+Rock, 7pm
Thurs 12th November – Bristol Snow+Rock, 7pm
Saturday 14th November – Hayling Island, Hampshire 11am-1.30pm
Saturday 21st November – Formby, Liverpool, Merseyside 11am-1.30pm
Tickets can be purchased from the Ski Club website and cost £7 for the Talks (or £6 for Ski Club members) and £35 for the avalanche transceiver sessions (per person)
