Surfers Against Sewage, The Crown Estate and World Animal Protection are appealing for volunteers to lead community beach cleans on the 17th-19th of October.
These guys need 3,500 volunteers at 150 coastal locations across the UK in order to make a difference to some of Britain’s best-loved surfing locations. Marine litter consists of fishing waste and sewage debris, as well as the plastic bags and drinks bottles that make everything look gross. It’s also estimated that 100,000 mammals and a million birds die every year through entanglement in, and ingestion of, marine litter.
