The Freeride Design Contest had an incredible response, with 3298 board designs submitted from hopeful entrants in 47 countries. More than 11,000 people voted online for their favourite designs during three heats from December to February, with just 25 making it to the finals.

The expert jury then had the tough job of selecting a winner…

Marina Kadysheva, 22, from Moscow was eventually awarded the grand prize – a Burton Series 13 snowboard and a Suzuki Grand Vitara Freeride Edition in her very own design. “As I’m not a professional designer, winning this competition gives me belief in the stuff I do,” said Marina. “It’s hard to describe my feelings, but I guess it feels way better than winning the lottery! I’m actually speechless!”
