What: More than 100 of the world’s most stylish and talented women in the action sports world will return to California this summer to compete in the second annual S3 Supergirl Jam. The unique three-day event featuring surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding competitions will run in conjunction with the 2008 Honda U.S. Open of Surfing and is guaranteed to be jam-packed full of fun extras such as a free skateboarding clinics, autograph sessions, sponsor booths and live music by The Donnas and The Clique Girlz.
Who: The event will be hosted by a committee of four talented female athletes, Gretchen Bleiler (snowboarder), Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins (skateboarder), Kassia Meador (surfer) and Fabiola da Silva (inline). In addition to the host committee, competing athletes include Laura Hadar (snowboard), Lee Ann Curren (surf), Lacey Baker and Cara-Beth Burnside (skateboard). Plus, promised appearances from top shredders Amy Caron, Vanessa Torres, Chanelle Sladics, Gabi Viteri, Evelien Bouilliart, Lorena Lima, Lauren Perkins, Sage Erickson, Courtney Conlogue, Nikita Robb, Sally Fitzgibbons and Amy Nicholl.
Schedule: The S3 Supergirl Jam kicks off on Friday, July 25, with a skateboard bowl competition and continues throughout the day with free skateboarding clinics for girls of all ages provided by Skatelab. On Saturday, July 26, the competition line-up is jam-packed, including preliminary rounds of the skate street contest, the skate vert best trick contest, the Supergirl Junior Pro surfing finals and the inline rail jam best trick contest. The S3 Supergirl Jam fun continues on Sunday beginning with the snowboard rail jam (yes, snowboarding on the beach!), the skate street finals and a half-pipe exhibition featuring superstar Fabiola da Silva and five other top pros.
