This Pregnant Woman Is Going To Give Birth In Hawaii – With The Help Of Dolphins

Who needs a midwife when you've got dolphins?

Water births are a pretty normal way of going into labour nowadays – but Dorina Rosin has taken it one step further.

The spiritual healer from Hawaii is planning on giving birth in the ocean – with dolphins as the “midwives”. It’s all part of a new TV show on Channel 4 called Extraordinary Births.

Dorina believes the animals have strong healing properties

Dorin and her husband Maika run a healing retreat in Hawaii where they focus on the power of nature.

Dorina believes the animals have strong healing properties, hence why she wants to give birth alongside them.

“I had the privilege to learn from and with wild and free dolphins and humpback whales in Hawaii who transformed and healed me in a very profound way,” she wrote on her blog.

Science journalist Christie Wilcox however does not think this is a good idea. “This has to be, hands down, one of the worst natural birthing ideas anyone has ever had (and that’s saying a lot),” she writes.

She explains that male dolphins can get aggressive and sometimes kill other infant animals.

Still, Dorina feels that she has a strong enough spiritual connection to the ocean that the birth will be complication-free.

What do you think? Is this idea of dolphin birthing totally mad?
