Mountain festivals have become more and more popular over the last few year and, stood on the piste with great music in front of us and a whole bunch like minded people around us, it’s easy to see why.

Music and parties take place all through the day and night during this week, with igloo parties, bottomless brunches, snow paintball fights, karaoke cabins and loads more happening around the slopes everyday and an insane line up of music and parties every night. On the first night of our stay, arriving after the slopes had closed and the sun had gone down, we made our way to Avoriaz centre to catch some of the late night Snowboxx festivities.

“It’s 2pm in the afternoon, after a morning of riding down perfect pistes we’re dancing to live music, beer in hand, under a blue sky in the mountains.”

Arriving in the town it was hardly recognisable, totally taken over by the fun and festival madness. Making our way into the crowd Radio One DJs got us dancing, before the almighty Stormzy took to the stage with a set that made even the mountains shake. As the music played into the night, we finished our drinks and headed back to camp for the night.

No two man tent in a muddy field for this festival however, heading to a friendly chalet and a warm bed, you can’t help but wonder if snow festivals might have the edge on their summer counterparts. When we woke up in the morning, warm and ready to hit the slopes, we were pretty sold on the idea that they do.

Grab your board, your boots, a good apres ski outfit and a group of your best mates and get ready for boozy brunches in the sun, long days on the pistes, world class DJ sets. Mountain life doesn’t get any better than this.
