Our O’Neill ambassadors – get the lowdown on this exciting new project here – are going to introduce themselves in the next few weeks, first up is multitalented style artist Maria Pizzeria.
Hello Hey!
It’s me, Maria Pizzeria, 21 years old, Thai kitty born and bored in Sweden, now living in London. I moved to London November 2011 while I was studying Digital Media at Hyper Island.
I moved to London to intern and I got an internship at Lazy Oaf’s HQ for 6 months! At Lazy Oaf I got to do things I love and also explore new things.
London as a city inspires and motivates me so much because of the creative people and open environment here. That’s also why I love London so much, if you make the effort to be out there and work hard and be nice to people it’s gonna pay off!
During my days I love to bike around and hang out with friends and meet new people but we all have to work. My occupation varies from week to week but right now I work a few days in retail to pay my rent and I also spend a day or two with the amazing Britta Burger at Cooler mag. At Cooler I focus on updating the style section online, illustrations and I also help out with styling and shoots.
For the Cooler x O’Neill collaboration I’ve been working on the visuals.
I did gif animations and stills:
The colour scheme I worked with was inspired by the O’Neill SS13 collection:
When I’m not at Cooler I’m working with my own things. It could be from helping out friends to working on my new projects. I’ve decided to start a magazine myself and also a collective of creative people.
I adore pizza and for me one pizza slice stands for individuality but all slices together stand for a strong fellowship that I value a lot in my work and life. Other things I love are meeting new people, taking photos, thrifting, cats and dancing to 90s hip hop and Rnb.
What I’m dreaming about now is to get my own studio (and a studio cat!) and work with the things I love. Also to be able to take the time to learn things I always wanted to learn such as skateboarding and new languages. And I’d love to travel more!
