Cooler x O’Neill: Suzi Kemp’s custom Xmas crackers

I’ve been getting festive this month, tis the season after all! Red, white and green aren’t really my thing though so I’ve spent some time designing my own crackers.
I’ve put together a step-by-step guide so you can make some custom crackers with your own designs, colours and illustrations.
I used a scanner and photoshop to create printed paper, but if you don’t have access to that, draw your designs directly onto coloured paper.
A really simple idea, but hopefully it will inspire some craftiness – you could make these for any festival or party.

1-Firstly draw the illustrations for your paper, scan and add colour.
These are some examples of the paper I printed with my illustrated designs.

2- Find snaps, hats, jokes and prizes for inside the crackers. You can either buy these bits online, or get super-cheap crackers and disassemble them for the snaps and hats.

If you’re feeling funny, write your own jokes. Or maybe a fortune or personal message, nice!

3- Roll and stick a cardboard tube that will fit all your fillings, with the cracker snap poking out each end of the tube.

4 – Roll the paper around the tube, twist the ends and secure with thread or ribbon.

4 – And there you have it! Here’s my little collection of custom crackers, I’m inspired to make more! These little ones are currently decorating my x-mas tree.
Enjoy the winter break!
