Patagonia R3 Women's Wetsuit
Patagonia R3 Women's Wetsuit
Price: £340
Thickness: For water temperature 8 to 12º C (equivalent roughly to a 4/3)
I loved this wetsuit. Honestly, if I could pick a wetsuit to live in, it would be this one. The only problem? It’s really pricey. It’s more costly than most people’s rent.
Why is it so expensive? Patagonia are world-renowned for making extremely high quality, ethical and environmentally friendly products. They don’t use sweatshops and they don’t exploit farmers. That’s why you’re paying so much money for a neoprene suit.
The suit is lined with merino wool which means it is super warm. Ideal if you’re one of those surfers who feels cold even in the height of summer.
I loved the fact that it was super easy to get on and off. Even when wet, the neoprene is silky smooth and amazingly elastic for such a warm suit. I wasn’t such a fan of the zip back, simply because the velcro sticks to the neoprene when you take it off – and makes it bobble.
I was wearing a UK size 10, but because I’m quite short – 5’2″ – I would probably try a size 8 next time as the crotch hung quite low. It fitted perfectly around the body and felt flattering.
Best for… surfers who feel the chill and a special wetsuit that’s built to last
