Whilst iconic 90s actresses Alicia Silverstone, Liv Tyler and Sarah Michelle Gellar were making typical teen movies, hooking up with the decades sexiest heart-throbs & wearing check skirts, Chloë Sevigny on the other hand was taking a very different direction towards much darker themed films, bleached eyebrows and independent cult movie status.
Chloë is like the girl next door but with a secret, playing quiet obscure characters and never shying from a controversial role. Her most iconic character was that of the lead role in Larry Clarke’s ‘Kids’, a story written by Harmony Korine about a young girl who discovers she has HIV. The film explores themes of sexual activity, youth and substance abuse throughout one day in the city of New York. A much darker take on an American teen movie. After ‘Kids’ Chloë went on to appear in other movies such as ‘Gummo’, ‘Boys don’t cry’ opposite Hilary Swank and ‘American Psycho’ opposite Christian Bale.
She has also graced the covers of Dazed & Confused magazine, The Face magazine and modelled for Miu Miu & Chloé. With her soft blonde hair and un conventional beauty she ticks all the right boxes to be considered unique and not just another poster girl of the 90s. Check out her style below 🙂
