When did the shop open?
On a sunny Thursday afternoon in September 2004.
What’s the idea behind the shop?
I’d been doing seasons in the french Alps for years and had a degree in graphic design and was working as a graphic designer in advertising. However, I had always dreamt about opening my own shop – so I went for it. I knew that the boardsport brands produced wonderful girls’ clothes, but you couldn’t get them anywhere in Germany. I loved that style and as it turned out that thousand other girls loved the style, displayed in my shop, as well…
What brands do you stock?
Our collection is a mix of big brands (such as Roxy, Billabong, Burton, Nike 6.0, Volcom, Nikita, Vans, DC), smaller brands (such as Ezekiel, Ragwear, Mazine), newcomer brands (such as Femipleasure, Ucon) and local brands (such as unitedskateboardartists). All brands have their roots in boardsports. All together we stock around 30 different brands.
Big trends this summer?
It’s going to be very colourful bright turquoise, a lot of coral, silver and gold. A lot of layering, long tees combined with short skirts or hot pants, thin and soft materials, funky sunglasses and roman sandals or flip flops combined with everything. And for the chilly evenings cargo pants and bolero jackets. Of course everything is much more fashionable than it has been in the past. No big logo prints anymore. The girls like it clear and simple, but very stylish!
Key pieces in the shop?
Oversized shirts which can be perfectly combined for the layering look, bolero jackets, fashionable roman sandals from all bands (Reef, Sanük, DC). Easy going cargo pants (Ragwear and Mazine). Cheap colourful sunglasses (Vans) and of course the kidswear for the little teenie girls. They and their parents simply love the boardsport-style!
